#WorldEnvironmentDay2022 Note on Civil Nuclear Energy in the Energy Mix by Shruti Devi

On #WorldEnvironmentDay I would like to reiterate my opposition to the presence of Civil Nuclear Energy in the global energy mix. 

I am of the view that all nations have a common, if differentiated responsibility to immediately commence planning the phase-out of the use of civil nuclear energy in their respective energy mixes. 

My opposition is primarily on the basis of environmental concerns pertaining to Water Quality and Water Scarcity w.r.t. the life-cycle of materials extracted and used, and their interactions with Water Resources.

Please note that my views on the use of nuclear energy in the Defence Sector are on a slightly different footing, and are not to be confused with my views on the use of nuclear energy in the civil nuclear energy mix.
